We're trying biodegradable peat pots this year for some of our transplants. Made out of peat and wood fiber, they will easily breakdown and add a little organic matter to the soil. The bottom of the pot is pealed away and added to the compost pile while the rest of the plant and pot are planted when it's time. We also didn't have to purchase any more plastic flats this year by cleaning and reusing last years.

Juno's a 5 month old aussie/border collie/whatever else mix we rescued this winter. Now Kody has someone to explore with.
